Fort Morgan Police Earn $45,115 in Federal Grants

The Fort Morgan Police Department will soon receive two federal Justice Assistance Grants totaling $45,115.

The first grant, approved in 2017, awarded $26,500 for technical assistance equipment in the form of a telephone system to safely resolve crisis situations when a suspect is barricaded in a home or other building.

Optimist Park Racket Courts Temporarily Open for Play

Fort Morgan’s new tennis and pickleball courts in Optimist Park are open to the public temporarily, with the finishing touches on the new complex still to come.

The facility is still under construction, and landscaping work may be happening around the outside of the complex. But the courts have been temporarily lined, nets have been installed and lighting is now functional.

Two "Coffee With a Cop" Sessions Scheduled in April

The next two sessions of the Fort Morgan Police Department’s “Coffee With a Cop” program are set for late April. FMPD Sergeants Kevin Campbell and Palmer Anguiano will be participating in the two April sessions.

Campbell will be at Zazzy Café on Wednesday, April 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Anguiano will be visiting with folks at the Home Plate restaurant from 8 to 9 a.m. on Friday, April 27.

Contributions from local businesses are helping the Fort Morgan Police Department with safety efforts specifically targeting school-aged youths.
